The
challenge
The automotive industry is making massive changes to align itself with shifting consumer demands. Logistical planning has never been more important to keep the supply chain operating efficiently and effectively.
Our client, a car manufacturer, had built a new assembly hall. They asked Emposo to be their trustworthy and experienced logistics partner to ensure a smooth manufacturing and assembly process. We were tasked with implementing strategic logistics planning solutions for the components coming into the hall from external warehouses, the intralogistics within the hall itself, and then the logistical flow of finished vehicles leaving the hall.
The
solution
Our team attended an on-site meeting with the client to analyse the conditions in the assembly hall and carry out diagnostics. We then designed a layout plan for the hall, including truck parking spaces, buffer zones, ancillary areas, offices, and social rooms. The aim was to optimise all routes, keeping them as short as possible and avoiding double handling and bottlenecks. It was also important to create storage and buffer zones close to the construction area to ensure operational and cost efficiency.
Incoming and outgoing goods were integrated into the logistics planning to ensure the speedy delivery of finished vehicles to the market. We also devised an empties management process for load carriers, creating a full-cycle logistics process for our client.
The benefit
delivered
Thanks to our efficient logistics planning, our client now has an economical, effective, and sustainable process in place to meet its orders on time and make vehicles available to the customer as soon as possible.
